The Weston Library is the home for the Bodleian Libraries' special collections: manuscripts and archives, rare books, printed ephemera, maps, music and digitized collections in libraries across Oxford.
All online manuscript and archive catalogues from the Bodleian Libraries, together with those of some colleges, can be searched together in in MARCO.
Oxford University Archives

The University Archives is a part of the Bodleian Libraries’ Special Collections, and holds only the administrative records of the University itself. These date from 1214 to the present and include charters, statutes and title deeds; records of the University's legislative and executive bodies; financial and central administrative records; records of past members; records of University delegacies and committees; and departmental and faculty records. The majority of their present holdings date from the 19th and 20th centuries and are in paper format.

The University of Oxford has been involved with the printing trade since the fifteenth century. The first book was published in the city just two years after Caxton set up his press at Westminster. The Archive at Oxford University Press holds the records of the university's printing and publishing activities from the seventeenth century to the present. The papers of the Oxford English Dictionary form a major part of the collection. The archive also includes printing machinery and typographical equipment from the Print Shop, including the seventeenth century "Fell type" collection.
Alexander Library, Edward Gray Institute of Field Ornithology, University of Oxford
The institute's Alexander Library of Ornithology (now based in the Radcliffe Science Library) is one of the most important ornithological reference libraries in the world, containing extensive collections of 19th, 20th and 21st century books, pamphlets and periodicals, and an archive of ornithological notebooks and diaries. It is an international resource with the collections covering ornithology, natural history, conservation, ecology and behaviour.

The Griffith Institute Archive houses a diverse and significant collection which explores the wealth of Ancient Egypt. The manuscripts of many eminent European Egyptologists and archaeologists are represented in the holdings, including the journals of Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie, the complete papers of Sir Alan Gardiner, Battiscombe Gunn and Jaroslav Černý, as well as drawings and watercolours made by the founder of the Egypt Exploration Society, Amelia Edwards. The most significant manuscript group comprises the original and complete excavation records made by Howard Carter following his 1922 discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun, captured in the iconic photographs of Harry Burton. Another important group are the records of the Nubian excavations financed and led by the entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Henry Wellcome, between 1910 and 1914.

Oxfordshire History Centre combines the collections of the Oxfordshire Record Office, Centre for Oxfordshire Studies, and the Oxfordshire Health Archives. In its collections you can find the administrative records of Oxfordshire County Council and its predecessors, and the administrative records of the City of Oxford. You may also find church records such as registers of births, deaths and marriages, and records of local businesses and families.
